BEI demonstrated the new SwiftComm Wireless Encoder Interface and Environmentally Sealed encoders at Pack Expo 2008.
SwiftComm is a robust and secure wireless interface with the built-in reliability need for real-time industrial control. Fast boot-up and a data transmit time of 1700 times per second allow critical position/speed feedback data to be seamlessly sent to control systems without expensive cabling. SwiftComm is also equipped with several fail-safes if signal interference is encountered. The SwiftComm system includes the
transmitter-receiver pair, which communicates using a point-to-point frequency-hopping 2.4 GHz RF protocol. SwiftComm is ideal for a wide variety of industrial applications where cable runs are expensive to install and maintain.
BEI's Environmentally Sealed encoders are completely sealed with an IP67 environmental rating. A magnetic shaft coupling connection allows the encoder to be isolated from high shock and vibration, dust tight, and impervious to debris or liquid in the environment. Model ES encoders can even operate while fully immersed in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
